Ladies’ Cardio Kickboxing (Muay Thai), Fridays 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Instructor – Mike Miles
$15 per class

Mike Miles is a four-time Professional Muay Thai World Champion who has owned gyms in Calgary dating back the 80’s. He is the highest ranked Muay Thai instructor in Canada. He has taught martial arts to thousands of students ranging in age from 3 to 73. Although he trains high-level, competitive athletes who go on to compete on the world stage, 90 percent of his students are people who are just looking for a great, fun workout. Mike understands that not everyone wants to get in the ring, and he is able to adjust his teaching techniques to match his students’ abilities and personal ambitions.

He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to his classes and helps his students build strength, cardio, flexibility and confidence in this fun, ever-changing class.

Mike is a local resident in our community and has enjoyed teaching weekly classes at the hall since 2006.

FAQs

What is the class structure like?

Each class starts with a 20-minute cardio warm-up followed by 40 minutes skills instruction, practice and cool down. Each person goes at their own pace and ability. For example, some people may do a bit of jogging or sprinting in the warm-up while others will walk.

I have seen and heard so much about kickboxing over the years, but I am a little nervous to try it. What can I expect?

Mike’s ladies’ classes at the hall are low pressure. You will learn how to hit and kick into your partner’s pads in a controlled and safe manner. As you learn the techniques, you will very quickly feel at ease. The classes aren’t about fighting, but rather about technique and building strength and fitness.

Do I need to buy equipment to join this class?

There is equipment in the hall for participants to use. You will be asked to buy your own hand wraps, but otherwise you won’t need to buy anything else. Most participants eventually buy their own boxing gloves and shin pads.

If I miss classes, do I still have to pay for a session?

We currently have a pay as you go policy for this class. There are no set sessions, but rather we have a class every Friday morning all year round.
